He changed the world forever, especially my world.

Very sad day, Thanks Mike for posting this up.

I got my very 1st Apple in 1987 one year after joining the lab. It truly was "magical" even back then. I watched the videos of the iPhone keynote from yesterday this morning and thought these people don't look all that pumped up for a new product launch. Now we all know why, they certainly knew something we didn't. He was very close to death.

Best commencement speech ever!

Amazing contribution to our lives.

I am saddened by the passing of Steve Jobs. He was truly an exceptional human being and did so much to improve our lives. I have never owned an Apple product (started on PCs and stayed there) but I am continually amazed at how much they do for us and how reasonable the cost has become.

Just as an example, I worked for Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) in the late 1970's. DEC was famous for introducing Distributed Data Processing (DDP) which put the computer where the work was instead of in some glass-enclosed area, off limits to all but a few. I was in sales and sold "front end" computer systems to newspapers. My target customers were daily newspapers with a circulation of 18,000 or more. A complete system with backup, storage, software and 15 terminals for input at that time cost about $1 Million (almost $3.5 Million today). With what is available today, one could buy 15 PC or MACs for perhaps $7500 and have more power, more storage, more powerful software and more back up capability. I remember when DEC introduced a new "disc storage unit" and the office was ecstatic...the stack of 5 disc platters held 20 meg of data!

Thank you, Steve Jobs. Riposa in pace.

He changed my world in many ways. The only thing I will work on is a Mac. He was a genius. I really am very saddened by this. I pray his family can take solace in him being at piece and out of pain.

Unlimited money and resources and he still couldn't get better. He had an amazing life.
