I know it's way early for good evaluations, but has anyone started the Eclipse Marlborough Sauv Blanc? Impressions so far? I don't drink a lot of whites, but do enjoy NZ SB. So I thought this would be a good one to try.

I will bottle in ten days or so. I'm following the instructions, except for filtering (which may not even be necessary, as its clear as a bell right now). Very nice kit so far.

Mine is in carboy for completion of fermentation. I have high hopes for it.
I noticed during primary fermentation, about 4 days in, a slight skim of scum on the top - anybody else experience this?

I moved mine to secondary last night, and there was definitely a bit of crud on the top around the edges. I don't know how it looked during the fermentation, because I never opened the bucket after I did on the 2nd day to stir.

It smelled really good when transfering, although my son (not a drinker) didn't think so. But, like he said he doesn't like the smell of any wine.

One thing I thought a bit odd was my SG after a week was down to 0.992, after starting at 1.092. Finished much lower than I expected after just 7 days.

Mine was reading .993, so it sounds like you're right on track. That is fast though.

I had one kit (WE Viognier) that was dry within 6 days of fermentation despite the fact it was done in the middle of winter without being heated. The fast fermentation did not seem to hurt anything at all. In fact, that wine was very popular among friends and family.
