My co-worker spoke with a UPS guy today at work and he said that it is
legal to ship wine with UPS so long as the recipient is 21 or older?
Anyone ever get carded by the UPS guy?

Nope...since it didn't say wine on the package!

We need to test this theory! I need at least one person from each state to send me a bottle of wine via UPS.

I used to be a member of a wine club that ships a couple bottles a month. I had to show ID to sign for the package.

I think the name on it was Smurfette and had the picture of a 42 year old blond smurf

They don't really seem to care, just following procedures.

LOL, well, I didn't need a fake ID, Heck, I have 3 kids that could of shown a valid ID to accept shipment. I got carded here a couple years ago by an older lady in the Winn Dixie checkout. I jokingly said "I think I love you and want to take you home with me."She gave me her phone number! I had to apologize and tell her I was just flattered that she thought I was that young when I was 40+ I watch what I say in public now. The wife laughed so hard about it she almost cried.

Will UPS even allow declaredprivate shipments of wine? I thought that was a No No. I thought only licensed retailers could ship a wine. Hence the numerous forum posts on all forums prior to amateur wine competitions.

Licensed Entities
FedEx accepts alcohol (wine) packages from approved licensed entities. Consumers are not allowed to ship wine to other consumers.

Alcoholic Beverages<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
The only alcoholic beverages that UPS accepts for transportation are wine and beer. Packages containing wine and beer are accepted for transportation only from shippers who are licensed and authorized under applicable laws to ship alcoholic beverages and only on a contractual basis. To receive service for packages containing wine or beer, the shipper must sign a contract and agree

The shipment of wine or beer requires the use of Delivery Confirmation Adult Signature Required service and the shipper must apply the Special Delivery Instructions label to each package. must be licensed and authorized to receive wine or beer. It is the responsibility of the shipper to ensure that a package tendered to UPS does not violate any federal, state, provincial or local laws or regulations applicable to the package.
UPS reserves the right to dispose of any alcoholic beverages tendered for shipment which shippers are prohibited from shipping, which UPS is not authorized to accept, which UPS states that it will not accept, or which UPS has a right to refuse.
