Folks,

I have an HDMI cable box in my finished basement. I just installed a TV in my winery and would like to have the one cable box send a signal to both TVs and have both TVs show the same thin

Any idea if there is a good way to go about this or even if this can be done cheaply?

I have used Monoprice for everything from HDMI hubs/splitters to iPad screen protectors. I have been VERY pleased with their quality, prices and service.

An HDMI splitter should be all you need, along with the cable itself.

Been using Monoprice for 10 years now. Fantastic prices, service on everything they sell. I was buying 6ft HDMI cables for $4 from them when BB and CC were trying like crazy to sell me a $80 Monster cable...... :)

One question. I plan on sending one of the lines across 50 feet. Does anybody see any issue with this?

There is a lot of handshaking going on in HDMI, so the length of cable can be critical. I kind of doubt you could ever have an HDMI cable that long, but you should ask Monoprice.

If that length is not possible, you might have to buy a converter to convert the signal to coax or something else. Talk to Monoprice.

Monoprice sells HDMI cables up to 100ft. You will probably need an extender (which they sell as well)

Although this cable may work with High Speed 1080p signals, Monoprice recommends the use of an HDMI® extender for more reliable transmission of High Speed and 3D enhanced HDMI® signals over long distances.

Looks like the extender is a nifty Cat5 wall mounted plate. That allows a short HDMI cable to the wall mount, then Cat5 over the long haul to another HDMI wall mounted plate then you switch back to another short HDMI cable.

Sweet! :db

100 ft - wow! I would seriously question the quality of the resulting signal, but, hey, they know what they are doing.

The Cat5 and shorter cable solution sounds like a better approach than one long HDMI cable.

I think the Cat6 cable is definitely THE way to go for that long of a run. The extender has HDMI input on the front and Cat6 outputs on the back. That way you just buy a couple of normal short HDMI cables and a 50ft piece of Cat6 to run through the attic/walls etc. Plus its a passive device, no power adapter needed!

Thanks for the advice guys. I ordered the splitter and a 50 foot cable. If the picture looks bad, I will then order the extender.

I think you are fine at that length as long as you are using a thicker gauge cable.
