Mine is a SS rod with plastic pieces on the end. I don't know of a reason why all SS is better. However, I want a SS rod as it won't break, as opposed to the plastic ones I've seen. When I used one, I used plastic. Now I let racking under vacuum and time take care of it. Is there a reason to use to stainless that I don't know of?
Sounds like the same one I use - "Mix-Stir".Mine is a SS rod with plastic pieces on the end. I don't know of a reason why all SS is better. However, I want a SS rod as it won't break, as opposed to the plastic ones I've seen.
Note: Keep in mind that the tool is not just for degassing. It's a stirring rod, so any time we're adding anything to the wine, it does the job.
Look up "Mix-Stir" on Amazon. Same thing and quite a bit cheaper.
I think I paid $12 USD for mine, but that was probably 15 years ago.Look up "Mix-Stir" on Amazon. Same thing and quite a bit cheaper.
About $28 now at Label Peelers and on Amazon.I think I paid $12 USD for mine, but that was probably 15 years ago.
Great idea!!!$34 for a degassing tool? I don't think so. I use a cut piece of a plastic cloth hanger and a drill. It's almost free. Make sure it doesn't have any cavities and it's clean and sanitized before use. You can always throw it out after a few uses and cut a new piece.
Do you use the tool after adding glycerin, backsweeting etcMine is a SS rod with plastic pieces on the end. I don't know of a reason why all SS is better. However, I want a SS rod as it won't break, as opposed to the plastic ones I've seen.
