I have a Portuguese floor corker. I have thought about switching from natural to synthetic. I have seen articles that mention the Portuguese corker does not work well with synthetic.. Any opinions?
There have been several threads on the topic of Portuguese corkers and synthetic corks. Some folks have a problem, while others don't. IIRC, the jaws can be adjusted. Search for the threads for more information.
I use synthetic corks and rarely have a problem with corking a bottle.
The few times I did have a issue was the bottle and not the corker. Some bottles have a smaller opening at the top and the rubber cork gets smashed and bent when it’s forced thru a narrower hole. Hope that makes sense but I think that’s the issue not the cork or corker.
