When I was at my local wine making supply store this morning I saw bags of #9 tapered corks and thought they could be used on bottles of wine I give to friends and relatives to. A bag of 100 was only 12.00 or so. Possible? Bad idea? A bottle of wine given to someone probably would be drunk soon I would think.

I personally wouldnt use them.

Unless you don't like your friends, you should be bottling the wine, corking properly, aging in bottle an appropriate length of time, and then gifting.

We just gave a friend a bottle of RJS Cru Select Shiraz-Viognier that was bottled April 2007. I am pretty sure that she will enjoy it.
