I owned a Red 1984. Purchased new, sold 18mo later. Replaced it with a Subaru station wagon with "Baby on Board" bumper sticker...... :(

Mike, I feel your pain. I had a '67 Camaro which I bought when I got out of the Army. Loved the car, drove real nice and really flew. During the gas crisis in the early '70's, and in a moment of both weakness and frugality, I traded it in on a Ford Pinto! :s

No power whatever and a real danger to drive on highways. My daughter was so embarrassed when she was standing at the School Bus Stop and I would drive by on my way to work, she would not even look at me. I could hear her friends saying, "Debbie, there is your Dad." but she would look the other way. I had this car about 3 months and could not stand it. I traded it on a '74 Trans Am and I was back in the saddle again! :db

Our first new car was a 1972 Mercury Comet that couldn't get out of it's own way. We traded it for a new 1979 Ford Granada which was another dog until I pulled the 6 cylinder out and put a V8 in it. They sure built some crappy cars then.

Larry, I had a friend at NCR that had a Comet of about that vintage. He called it his "Vomit." My boss bought a Chevy Vega and it was also a piece of crap, rusted out in about 2 years and the engine back fired something fierce. Then we wonder how Honda, Toyota, Nissan, etc. got such a foot hold in this country. It was a deep, dark, ancient Oriental secret. They made products that worked.

Seems to be an ongoing trend. But in an effort to help the American economy I bought a 2011 Ford Fusion last November. It seems to be a decent car but time will tell. My wife's 2004 Toyota Rav4 was bought new and the only thing I have had to do is tires and brakes. But then too it has less than 25000 miles on it.
:b

Nice cars Larry! Mike I feel you\r pain also. Just a few years back for the first time in my life I bought an older car and had it all done up with sweet motor and all and then my wife decided she wanted to go to school for nursing which really would have heled us out right now so I sold the car for tuition money and sh umped aboard and then decided after more then 3/4 of the schooling that she couldnt handle it anymore and dropped out and ill never probably see a car like that again with the way things are unless I hit the lotto!
