VC Tank Lids with 1 person

Has anybody come up with a good method for setting the lid on variable capacity tank with only one person?

I find it really needs two people (one to hold, and one to pump up the tube gasket), but not so easy when you are alone.

pump it up a bit where it will hold its self in place but not enough to hold it tight, then slide it down to the level you want it and pump it up the rest of the way.
