Finished up my first wine kit last weekend, a box of Cabernet Sauvignon from Amazon. I was fully expecting my first kit to be very bad, especially ordering it from Amazon.

I was pleasantly surprised. My wife and daughters liked it. (My eldest daughter doesn't like wine, so that's really surprising.)

I'm now working on a Rasberry Grapefruit Revolution kit. Let's see how that works out in four weeks.

Congratulations & welcome to the forum!!

I've made a few of the Vino Italiano kits also and have generally been surprised by them. My mother loves the Valpolicella. I have a second batch of it in secondary now. I've learned so much about kit winemaking with them, and because the price is so reasonable I'm not afraid to try a few tweaks. I'm starting to branch out into the premium kits, but I will probably keep a few of these on auto-delivery for quick drinking stock.

Glad you like it! Hope it only gets better for you from here :)

Welcome. I am glad to hear your first kit came out well. I also decided to do a kit from Amazon to get started and learn: Cornucopia Tropical Riesling. In hindsight I wish I hadn't started off with a white wine, but so far it is doing well as far as I can tell. Fermentation is slowing in the secondary and I may be ready to clear and sweeten in the next few days. My next kit will be a step up to Cellar Craft Showcase Argentine Malbec. It just arrived yesterday and may throw that one together tonight.

Enjoy your Cab! I'd be interested in hearing how well this one ages. Keep us posted.

I've done 15 of these and other Paklab kits, and I've posted a bunch of tweaks.

This Cab has turned out FANTASTIC, I did it in June 2012.

I bulk aged 2 months with Med Amer Oak. This kit came without oak.

The next one, I just put into secondary, came with Med French Oak.

I expected this to be similar to the Italiano, just more water (less concentrated), but it is truly a higher quality kit.
