Volcano

Racked, stabilized and degassed 5 carboys. Everything went well until I hit the Cranberry/Melbec with the stir mix. First I removed 1/2 gallon of juice then hit it with the drill. Holy cow I had the most violent volcano I ever had. It shot up about two feet after I removed my hand from it trying to stop it and wine was everywhere. Thank god I work in the basement. AGGGGGG I will be in the chat room relaxing tonight if anyone asks for me.

I won't be in chat room tonight or Sat. so I stopped in and mopped the floor and vacuumed. Buford went out for a few hours so he's fine.

NEVER COVER THE CARBOY WITH YOUR HAND! You're supposed to wrap your lips around the carboy to so that volcano has somewhere to go. Nothing like being force-fed a wine volcano flow.

Wade thats the exact drill that I own and it just quit on me. Now I'm fight with Home Depot because it was suppose to have a life time guarantee. Rigid changed there warranty and now they don't want to cover it and I don't have the original receipt.

Yeah no kidding. I thought this was just a long fermentation as I started it a month ago. That is until I took an sg reading today and it was .990. This was the one time I didn't splash rack first and thought I would hit it with the stir mix before the vacuum pump. Dang I should have started with the spoon first.
