My neighbor racked his piesporter to another carboy which seems to have been larger than the one he was racking from. Thus the need to top off his carboy. Instead of using a similiar wine, he used approx 3 quarts of water. Hence the watery wine.

I suggested he rack again, leaving a quart or so out, but topping off with a couple bottles of Piesporter.

Do you think this will take care of the "watered" down wine?

It may be watered down and may not be. What size was the original carboy and what was the size of the new one? If the first was 6 gallons and the new 6.5 gallons, then he diluted it slightly. If the first was 5 gallons(common for beer and older kits) and the new 6, it will be fine because it should have started with the extra water anyway. I would say find this out first before rushing into anything at this point.

If it was a kit it depends on the brand I guess. I know Wine Expert concentrates their kits to allow up to one liter of water to be added to top up. The Mosti kits I have done (only done all juice)say don't you dare add any water.

smurfe, I am pretty sure it was a WE kit for the Piesporter.
