I have not decided what type of wine to bring to the neighborhood News Year eve party ?

Any suggestions ?

It's not so much of 'what type' as it is 'how much'? :)

What do the neighbors like? Do you have anything sparkling for a midnight toast?

We are going out to dinner, so I'm not sure what'll be in the glass just yet. It'll most likely be a steak dinner, so a big, beefy red will be in order.

They always supply the toasting at midnight -
I'm thinking of some light whites and some heavy bodied ports ?

Bring a variety pack. Maybe a case with a bunch of your favorites

We have a neighborhood pot luck, so everyone brings stuff. It's a great group. I learned some time ago not to bring my home brews, or at least only to bring a few. People feel obligated to drink them, and honestly, there's better stuff in this world (I have never produced a beer anywhere near as good as, say, your average Dog Fish 60). I don't have but a few fruit wines read to drink, I may bring a bottle or two. But mostly we're bringing commercial bubbly and a bottle of red and a bottle of white (and food). I have a hard time staying awake past 10, so I'll be going light.

Happy New Year everyone!

I don't think so??? I could be wrong tho. I've never thought I had the best etiquette. Just set them out and let people know it's there for everyone who wants it to try it. Then leave it at that. Don't push it on anyone.

One of my favorite parts of making wine is sharing it with friends

That's what I would do. But I don't know your friends. Maybe they would think you were imposing a bit??

My kids (30 year old) are spending New Years Eve at my house with my wife and I. I think they just want free booze. I just heard from my daughter that we will be staying with Scotch. Her fiancé is a police officer in the City of St. Louis and had to deal with protesters outside of city hall today. He is in a bad mood she said. Oh well, Scotch I got. I wish I could make it sometimes.
