What the heck is this on my vine?

Unfortunately I think I found my answer. I think it's crown gall and from what I've read it most likely means I should be pulling up this vine and it could potentially spread to others. Does anyone else have experience with this?

It is crown gall. Is it below a graft or at the graft? If so, cut it off below the gall and paint the open wound with undiluted Roundup to kill all the root. Let the spot lie fallow for two years. Other vines may or may not be affected.

Crown gall is in the soil so not much you can do to avoid it entirely. I have a few vines that succumbed. Mine is mostly due (I think) to sudden sub freezing temperatures. Young vines succumb faster.

Looks like it's right at or below the graft. Is the Roundup pretty effective at killing all of the roots vs trying to dig everything up?

If you pull or dig you may leave roots behind. The Roundup advice was from the Virginia Tech grape pathologist, Mizaho Nita. The Roundup will kill all the roots.
