The lunch served after President Barack Obama’s inauguration Jan. 21 will feature a wine from an Iowa State University graduate.
Trent Preszler, a 1998 ISU grad, is CEO of Bedell Cellars in Long Island. Bedell’s 2009 merlot will be served in the second course alongside bison with red potato horseradish cake and a wild huckleberry reduction. The wine and food were chosen by Sen. Charles

You, too, can sip the merlot, a bottle of which is available on Bedell’s website for $30.

Obama? inauguration?....... =political.............not allowed

That's true, this is against the forum rules, and probably a good and exemplary sanction could be to send a bottle of wine to every member that is emotionally distressed and has pain and suffering by reding the post...:)

I don't see this a political yet because we would have an inauguration no matter who was elected. It is the event and not really political. Believe me guys we do not want to have to rule one way or another on these things. I personally have bigger things to worry about in my life than trying to moderate two conflicting views to keep things civil. Because we do this keeps this forum basically on friendly terms.

What I was wondering was where the Bison and horseradish come from?????

For illustrative purposes in support of grapeman's post, if somebody were to post something about it being inappropriate to celebrate with wine on a national day of sorrow, well, *that* would be inappropriate - *IF* someone were to post something like that.

I have to agree bob, **IF** someone were to post that they'd "rather be a piano player in a marching band" than celebrate with wine on a national day of sorrow, ....that would be highly inappropriate - *IF* someone were to post something like that.

. . . it being inappropriate to celebrate with wine on a national day of sorrow, well, *that* would be inappropriate - *IF* someone were to post something like that.
"If" someone said that they would mean national day of sorrow because of Monday being MLK observed, right?
FYI Today while racking my Sicilian Nero D'Avola I am listening to my collection of Motown hits to celebrate Dr. King.

MLK was certainly a great man. Is Monday MLK day again already? :)

Personal Id rather the recipe for the red potatoe horseradish cake, and have it with my Merlot. Bakervinyard

It's not to often I get a good laugh at a post but Bob, today you did it.::

That does sound really good. I'm not sure if I'd choose Merlot ... better to have several varieties on hand just to make sure!

Wow just wow, first off thanks Grapeman for the support. I really thought someone would be interested in the wine and dinner!!

Must be some pretty good Merlot, thats all I have to say! I remember a year or ago reading about a state dinner in which they served a couple of cases of 2005 Quilceda Creek with dinner. That was a 100pt Robert Parker wine that goes for ~$300 a bottle at auction these days.

I know it's not just the current administration we have to blame (they all waste our taxes), but perhaps everyone in America should be given a $300 bottle of wine for the inauguration.
