They are announcing the Top 10 this week! Number 1 will be announced on Friday and then the rest of the Top 100 Wines after that. Always fun to see what wines scored well and if you can find any of them in your Cellar or at your local Wine Shop!

LOL Feel free to! I will proudly show off my "collection". You may get a TSA pat down on exiting the Cellar....... There is a reason the Winery/Cellar now has better dead bolt locks as well as a security camera inside as well as outside the door.

Those will lay down for at least 5 to 10 years.

Not a robust or complete ranking. I fail to see my elderberry wine listed, and I know for a fact they did not even taste my Greatest Super Best and Excellent Premium Elderberry Wine. :D

It would be nice if they split reds and whites, in my opinion.

Wow, many Cabs made the list .. [emoji106]

I dunno, only 8.

9 Pinot Noirs
7 Syrahs + 1 Shiraz
6 Chardonnays
5 Brunellos
4 Riojas
4 Riesling (one from the Finger Lakes!)
3 Douros
3 Super Tuscans (at least)
2 St. Emilions
2 Sauvignon Blanc
1 Zin + 1 Primitivo
2 Malbec
2 Barolo
2 Bandols
1 Port
1 Amarone
1 Madeira
1 Chianti
1 Chablis
1 Grenache
1 Chenin Blanc
1 Merlot (from Long Island, yet!)
1 Gruener Veltliner
1 Aglianico del Vulture
1 Rose
1 Champagne
1 Pinot Grigio
1 Chateuneuf-du-Pape

Clearly, this attempt at categorizing will have many problems when considering blends. For example, there were a few GSMs, and I probably missed a Super Tuscan somewhere....

WS try's very hard to find a mixture of wines for the top 100 list. The Top 10 wines, almost impossible to find for the most part (before or after) as they are usually made in small lots or available only by allocation list to club members etc. I remember when WS named the 2005 Columbia Crest Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon #1 back in 2009. That was a pretty easy wine to find when originally released but that wine was released either in 2007 or 2008 and long gone at the winery and any higher end wine shops that stocked them when it won. They had plenty of the 2006 version however and those still disappeared fast. The wines that had large production numbers will be pretty easy to find still but those with small numbers will sell out overnight. If you see something you are interested in picking up you should snag it quickly as a general rule. Being on the list almost anywhere means it will be a complete sellout for the most part within days or weeks.

I tried to bite my tongue, but I just can't help myself..

Gee, 100 wines and not one is either Welch's or Concord... Hmmmmmm....

(exhale) ... ok, I feel better now... :)
