Well I finally ordered a floor corker and ups delivered to my house yesterday, left it on the front porch but when I got home, no box. ECKraus gives something called Norton Buy Safe with each order but it doesn't cover stolen orders I guess. I've notified UPS that I did not receive the package so maybe I can get reimbursed but who knows. I also realized my new front garden hose was AWOL. I've owned this house for almost 30 years and never had any type of theft or problems, guess I was overdue.

I re-ordered another one today but am having it shipped to my office instead, lesson learned, just enough money lost (probably) to be irritating. Makes me miss the imaginary days of "Mayberry" type neighborhoods.

Done Whining, time to head home and open a bottle and be thankful I've never been in the position of not being able to afford a garden hose.

P.S. I did order a 4 camera security system today so in a couple of weeks I'll be able to watch my house and winehouse from my office desk or phone whenever I like. Maybe I should mount one IN the winehouse, "ferment cam".

That is a shame! I'm ticked off and angry just reading your post. I'd also report the theft to the police and inform your neighbors. Maybe, just maybe the thief will be caught in the act of attempting to steal again.

I'd hate to see this thief get emboldened and start breaking into peoples homes. That could lead to a serious/dangerious confrontation.

Sorry to hear about that Mike. Better a corker than a CC Showcase kit though, right? ;) Just trying to look on the bright side.

Make sure you advertise the fact that your property is under surveillance. That should keep those losers away.

If you are at home during the holidays try placing a "bait" on your porch consisting of a sealed cardboard box and some useless stuff inside. Thieves almost always come back, unless you give them a reason not to. As others said, report it to the police. I know how you feel, although, fortunately I never had a package stolen and my neighbors were decent enough to bring me mail/packages that are misplaced by accident.

I know how you feel, bout five years ago we had our home broken into. They ignored the computers and the two Xbox and took change I had wrapped up, couple of dollars on my son's dresser, some of my jewelry and a service revolver that was my husbands grandfathers when he was a police officer. I was so ticked! We now have cameras and motion detector lights all around the house.

Sorry, Mike.

But I wonder... what did the thief think might be in the box. I'd like to have seen their face when they pulled out a corker: "What the @#$% is this?!"

Pricelss! Well, almost.

And a garden hose? Really? Who the heck steals a garden hose? :? It's not like it has resale value. Amateurs!

Mike -
I had a pump stolen from one of my customers -
If ups was involved and if it was clicked that they need a signature for delivery - they will automatically give you 100 dollars toward the shipper.

In my case - I was able to get the 100 dollars and ship them another pump within 24 hours.

Point being said - is check if there was signature needed for delivery.

I noticed that the cam is set mainly on the wine cellar - The most important room in the house !
Keeping an eye on those wine thiefs -

Yeah, the scumbag probably thinks it's a nut cracker.

I have had two garbage cans stolen. I have seen one of them at a neighbors house!

My City provides garbage cans that are designed to be lifted by their trucks. Even then they are stolen. So, the City started printing serial numbers on each one.

One of the reasons I like living in the country. We all have guns, so nobody steals from their neighbors, lest they be shot. When I bought my house/property, I went to each of my ajoining neighbors and asked if they knew where the property line was. They did.

Nuf sed.

Doesn't always work that way Dave. We live in the country, one neighbor on one side, another directly across the road from our neighbors house, woods directly across the road from us, on the other side of us and behind us. Because our driveway is level with the basement door and on the side that has no neighbors, they had no problem in breaking in the basement door unseen and helping themselves. Fortunately they had no idea where we hide our pistols and they had no interest in rifles. We were at work, so there was no idea of us protecting our property with guns.

Providing you have never signed a waiver authorizing UPS to leave packages without someone to accept them, UPS is responsible for packages left unattended.

I loose about 1 per year. and this is the time of year the fiends are most active, some literally follow the UPS truck. It will be bad till Christmas.

This is what we do to thieves in my neck of the woods. This fellow was caught steeling honey

All for security cameras inside and out including the winery cam!

Nice setup, both the cams and your wine room! I wonder how many other steps people take to protect their wine and equipment? I'm only a few years into this but there's quite an investment in time, effort and money setting out there.

If you look at the picture of the winery the left side is a 320 bottle rack that is all commercial wine and the right hand side is all my wine from fresh grapes. Once I got all my commercial wines properly inventoried in cellar tracker I knew one of those cameras was going in the winery. I also immediately went and bought a new deadbolt with keyless entry as I had always left that door unlocked. Won't say exactly how much is in there but it was enough to protect it better than I had been.

Good news! My corker was actually delivered a few streets over and that person's son just dropped it off at our house this morning. A little faith restored in the neighborhood (except for that garden hose thingy) but I'm still installing the camera system and have added locks to the gates. Now I'll just have to notify ECKraus and return the 2nd one when it shows up. I'll have to try this thing out tonight and having just cleaned 7 cases of bottles this weekend I have plenty to experiment with.

I've had to retrieve my order a few times from my neighbor UPS goes through so many drivers!
Glad you had a happy ending. Congrats!

Glad this ended well for you. I wouldn't be surprised if ECKrauss tells you to just keep the replacement (unless they haven't shipped it yet).
