Im with appleman I have made 6 kits so far ranging from sweet to dry and I have never used a filter. Racking the wine like the instructions say works just fine. All my wine has turned out very clear and clean.

ok thanks a lot one more question. i have a 6 gallon frementer would it be a problem if i frement only 2 gallons in it if i use an air lock. or should i just order a 2gallon frementer and to 2 one gallon batches. thanks again for all your help.
