    Post-fermantation ruins...What are they?

Yes, to there or even higher depending on the bung you are using and how far it is able to be inserted in the carboy. BTW, I do see K-meta referred as PMS, KMS and K2S2O5. With all the great questions you are asking I can't wait to hear about your next wine.

    Post-fermantation ruins...What are they?

K-meta is added after MLF is complete, it just requires the carboys to be topped up to the fullest. I only leave 1/2", if that, in the neck of the carboy.

    Post-fermantation ruins...What are they?

@midilli please don't get discouraged, everyone is just trying to help. This is a great hobby and I would doubt there is anyone ( unless they are lying) no matter what their experience is hasn't had a problem with a wine. I personally dumped 30 liters of PV recently and have to admit it wasn't...

    Post-fermantation ruins...What are they?

Heck, I can't remember what a wine tasted like 5 weeks ago let alone 5 years. 🤔

    Post-fermantation ruins...What are they?

First of all, welcome to the forum! It has always been my understanding the only way to remove mycoderma was through reverse osmosis which is not practical for the home winemaker. I believe adding K-meta to an affected wine may only slow it's growth. There may be a slight terminology issue as...

    What R you doing today?

Time for a little celebration. When the original results were in for the American Wine Society Competition it didn't have me as winning a single medal. Evidently the list wasn't complete. I got 2 gold which were both 1/2 point off by one judge for winning double gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze...

    5 gal wood barrel recommendation?

If they are recently dumped bourbon barrels I highly doubt there is any infection. I don't think anything harmful is able to survive in that high alcohol environment. Great price tough!

    Small Wine Room/Cellar Cooler Options

Being in the construction industry for nearing 50 years I've learned not to question peoples design ideas. Everyone has their reasons for choosing their particular design so I kind of stayed out of this. If I were to make observations they would be: 1. @Jim Welch has a very good point in the...

    Finding grapes

As I may have mentioned before I don't think it's the small quantities as much as the hand holding that deters them from selling to us.

    AWS results?

I sent an email to the competition director to confirm my wines were entered.

    AWS results?

I didn't get a single one which I find incredibly odd. One of the wine, a Tannat was a silver from 2 years ago saying the tannins were too sharp and the wine needed a little more aging. I truly think my wines were never entered in the competition.

    Barrel left unattended 2.5yrs

Hey AJ, hope the worst is behind you and you will be able to move on. I thought there was something going on and feel like a bad internet friend for not calling or texting you.

Looking for it myself, I have 10 entries this year.

    Finding grapes

I currently have 4 sources for grapes from local winery/vineyards. They all seem to have the same issue with selling small quantities to home winemakers. That being the hand holding they've experienced in the past. They know I'll bring my brutes, load the grapes, pay them, give them wine then...

    Thoughts on California wine

It's not that I have anything against California wines it's just I'm afraid I have cellar palate for Virginia wines.

    Finding grapes

We have an excellent group that we get west coast grapes and juice from in the fall. There is a fruit market near Baltimore that imports wine grapes and a vendor in New Jersey, about a 3 hour drive, to get spring grapes so not awful. I'm also fortunate to live in one of the country's better...

Local wine supply store going out of business

I have 2 local stores in my area but they cater mostly to beer making. They have a very limited supply of wine making supplies unless they are also used in brewing beer. I might use Amazon for equipment but all of my chemicals and additives come from Morewine.

Hi All! I'm Cody from SW Pennsylvania

I don't but still have family there. It's too early for me to commit though it sounds appealing. If I'm not able to attend I could at least ship a few bottles to you. The past few years the majority of my grapes come from local Virginia vineyards. The wines might have a slightly different flavor...

Hi All! I'm Cody from SW Pennsylvania

Welcome Cody, I grow up in Clairton PA. Not sure it you are aware but All American Containers in Belle Vernon is close to you and a great source for bottles. Especially since you can pick them up. I get periodic emails where they are selling low stock bottles very cheap.
