    Small Wine Room Project

Drop ceiling? I built in the basement, sectioning off the boiler area with a hollow core bi-fold door. The boiler area is always around 80f, the wine area around 62f (68f when it's really cold out and the boiler runs a lot). It has the floor and 2 walls that are cooling. I'm not sure the...

    Cellar Craft Argentinian Malbec

This will be a wine that puts my wife under the table. I once bought a Tanant with a 16.5 ABV. It was very good. If the body and tannins are there the high ABV may be OK.

    Cloudy Wine

It took 3 doses (tsp each) of peptic enzyme to clear a 4 gal peach wine from peach nectar. Also be sure your are degassed or the escaping CO2 will keep solids in suspension. The sparkloid suggestion is good. I try to avoid chitosan because of the shell fish connection. I find that I can see...

    Oxidation question

I insert the racking cane in the center/shorter stem. Place the cap on the carboy, set up your bottle with the filling wand in the first bottle to be filled. Then blow into the longer stem. The positive pressure starts the siphon. You really need to get a tip for your racking cane. It...

    to few carboy problem solved

Those are not O2 proof, that is they are O2 permeable. Wine will oxidize over time. The 4 gal PET water bottles at Sam's and WalMart are the same material as a Better Bottle. I even bulk age in them. Cost is under $4 and that includes the water...

    saving slurry

I would freeze it in a bag if you feel you need it. I have used slurry to start SP, but I did it immediately. Every other time I've used a fresh packet of EC-1118. $0.79 at the local supplier.

Building my wine storage area. WITH Wife's blessing

    1. The boards are 19.5 x 2-3/8 x 5/8. 2. I have a smart blu-ray player hooked up to it 3. It is in the basement, two walls are the on the crawl space (not exterior)with the doors closed, the temp stays in a range of 62-66 F. 4. the bottles don't touch because of the size of the grid @ 4"...

    Wine Cellar Opinions Needed

I got these doors for $90 a slab at Menards (Home Depot has them as well). There is plenty of room to shave off 5 inches. Is your rack done? Double deep at the ends of the closet might give you more capacity. My closet is 2' x 10' and holds 504 bottles with a 74" high rack. Where in OH...

    wood experts?

The leaf shape is the key. When fresh cut the white has a pleasant dill like smell. white man round bullet points red man sharp arrow points no offense to anyone, learned that in cub scouts in the early 60s

    Other Reserve Du Chateau ?

I had made probably 30 of the box kits of that brand, lots of tweaking, but they all turned out quite good. Found a 3 yr old Valpolicella hiding and it was really good. I have never done the bucket. I am ready to attempt one of the Fontana kits on Amazon, probably after the Chilean juices...

Anybody in the NW OH area need bottles???

I am over run with empty bottles, and I have at this point a nearly limitless supply thru the growing network of winos, I mean friends. I have several cases I'm willing to part with, but if you need more I can hook you up with a weekly amount of 3-5 cases of empties. You still have to...
