    Only 3 gals of Marquette

Hello, I have only 3 gals of 2018 Marquette. pH is 3.32, TA is 9.8 and Brix is at 4.0. Wondering how much CH16 to use and can I use it again next year. Just ordered a chromatography kit last week so I’ll be ready for that test.

    Vinmetrica SC-100 vs SC-300

Just started using the 200. I like it. The 300 would just tie it all together. Good luck.

2018 Growing Season. How was yours?

Dennis, I get about a weeks worth of protection from the regular Sevin concentrate during the JB invasion. I used to use Imadin but it was restricted where I live. It worked well. It would be nice if someone could develop something to kill the JB grub in the ground. Milk spoor just doesn’t seem...

2018 Growing Season. How was yours?

Pretty sure I was hit with the flea beetle this year. Total vineyard yield was down about 40%. I had whole rows without a single grape cluster. Next year, I’ll take a day off work the minute I see one of these devils. We have 3 acres of vines in central Wisconsin.

    What R you doing today?

Stringing more trellis wire and taking the plowing blade off the tractor. It’s has to stop snowing sometime soon.

    Lime sulfur ratio

Good morning. I take the lime sulfur solution and dilute with water. The concentrate would be far too rough on the vines. I found in my notes I used 1 cup per gal water but this was my calculation and I find it difficult to figure out application ratios for vineyard use. Just looking to see if...

    Lime sulfur ratio

Hello, Does anyone have a quick rule of thumb ratio for lime sulfur? I did a search and did not find one. Oz per gallon would be helpful. Tomorrow will be nice enough to spray. Thanks,

    Harvest help?

I used friends and family for the first years and still use them. I have found an Amish family that I use for planting, pruning and harvest. $10 per hour per worker and I’m pretty much guaranteed to get the job done. We’ll feed the group lunch. I have 3 acres of producing grapes. If you go the...

Probably a stupid question : VSP vs TWC

I’ve had them for 5 years now. Last year was the first year I got a commercial harvest. We’re located in West central Wisconsin. I don’t have any pictures of the Brianas vines from last year. Sorry. Even though they are vigorous, they are very trainable. Best tasting grape in the vineyard.

    Need help with vine

Pick up the book, From Vines to Wine. I’ve read, reread and read some more until it made sense. It’s on my night stand.

    What else to plant?

Roses make the rows look very complete and accomplished but then you have to figure out how to keep them from dying off every year. I go to the garden shops at the end of the summer and ask for bargains to get their product out the door before winter. Sometimes it works.

Come on spring!!! What's it like at your vineyard?

I have all my primary and secondary pruning done. Going to have to wait for this 12” of snow to melt now. Need to run some top guide wires and gets posts in for another 100+ Marquettes.
