    Leaves Turning Brown

Cheap ole bubble gum seems to work as well as anything else on voles but they are a continuous problem

    Post your clusters

Wow my Marquettes never get to 29 brix. This year they are couple of week behind past years for efflorescence. Keeping fingers crossed that summer finally gets here and vines ripen.

    Removing excess sulfite.

Daniel Pambianchi in his book "Techniques In Home Winemaking" recommends 18ml H2O2 per 100 liters (0.18ml/l) of wine to reduce SO2 by 10ppm. This is exactly what dose I used when my Frontenac Blanc/Gris was over sulphited. Worked just fine.

3 batches of Red and all taste crap

aging seems to be he best cure for lousy young red wine but can be hard to let it sit. I now bottle a few in 375ml bottles for sampling so that i don't waste an entire 750ml bottle before its time

Marquette will be somewhat acidic but not nearly as much as Frontenac. Put it though MLF and that should get it within tolerable range. Makes very good wine, but let it age for at least a year or more

    Cab Franc vines dead

My soil has a fairly high clay content with carbonaceous sedimentary rock. I don't have any personal experience with Crimson Pearl however a local grower speaks very highly of them

    Cab Franc vines dead

Our Marquettes out here in Montana thrive very well. Petite Pearl not so much. look into Crimson Peral, Marechal Foch or Leon Millot

How long do you typically age white wine kits?

I use 375 ml bottles for sampling - saves wine that way

    New Wine Label

I've been using removable poly labels from SheetLabels.com and have been very happy with them. They also have templates for layout which can be saved as PDF file. I bring my labels to Staples and have them printed on their laser printer. Here's the link to the site and there's currently a 15%...

First year vines - Blue-X tube question

Don't use tubes on my young vines here in Montana. Our vineyard is fenced to keep out the larger critters and I put a cage of chicken wire around new plants to keep rabbits at bay. Hope this helps

    New vines

now that all depends on lots of things. Hwat type grapes they are, how vigorous do/will they grow? if youi'd like VSP then train them to lower wire. If you want high wire cordon then go up to the hish wire and if you want four-arm kniffen then you might want to get them well established this...

    New vines

I would get some plant tape at Lowes or Home Depot which is stretchy and will give as the plant grows - just tie it loosely. the heavy wire your using will did into the plant trunk as it grows which is not a good idea

    And it begins

looks good - your grapes are a lot farther along than mine
