    More questions on degassing...

It's the Cali. Conn. Johan Riesling kit. I'm making sure to avoid a vortex by using forward and reverse, but yea, I am using the high speed setting. GUess I'll stop beating it, and just get the vacuum tool to finish it off. Hope I didn't kill it :d

    More questions on degassing...

I'm at the stage now where I have been degassing my Riesling before adding the clarifiers. The instructions call for stirring the wine 6-8 times a day for 2 days to remove all the CO2. It is now day 3, and when I degassed this morning, there are still a massive amount of bubbles being created...

    F$#@ing Buon Vino Bottle Filler...

I was debating getting one of those fillers... after reading this, I think I'll stick to my 4$ bottle filling rod. Sorry for your bad luck :( Sounds like maybe you have an air leak somewhere. Good luck with the debugging.

    Potato Anise wine

Well, thought I would provide an update. We are now at the 2 month mark, and just did the second racking. So of course, had to take a clarity check and taste :) The wine turned out a bit strong (so far). It's still very tasty, so at least it's not overpowered. But I think a bottle of this...

Making your own CO2 to add to carboy...

I may be off my rocker... but I think I would want to keep vinegar as far away as possible from my wine lol

    Slight fizziness | Risk?

Yea, it's the Orchard Breezin one. We degassed with the plastic wand for a good 10 mins, but apparently wasn't enough lol. Live and learn. Next batch is getting degassed with the wand, and then a vacuum pump :)

    Slight fizziness | Risk?

Bottled our Blueberry shiraz about 2 weeks ago. But I think we didn't degass near enough. The wine has a slight fizziness on the tongue, not quite carbonated, but enough to noticed. The wife seems to like it like this, and it's not half bad when served chilled. My question is, do we risk...

    LF Suggestions on next kit

After browsing through Defalcos, decided on a Calif. Connoisseur Johan. Riesling :) Got it in the primary tonight. Lookin good. SG 1.082 Came with Elderflowers. Should I consider oaking? I have some oak chips packets from when I bought all the equipment. Many thanks again.

    LF Suggestions on next kit

Well, I managed to finagle some extra cash from my pay this week, and was thinking about getting a new kit to make. Our stock of red shiraz is starting to get a little low, and I'm not so big on the blueberry shiraz (wifey loves it...). Was looking for tips or suggestions on what to try next? I...
