    Montmorency Concentrate Recipe?

In the Organic section of the grocery store, I came across Montmorency Tart Cherry Concentrate. The quart bottle(32 ozs. or 946ml) of concentrate, says it was made from approximately 25 pounds of Tart Cherries. Pasteurized, 100% Montmorency Tart Cherry Juice concentrate, no preservatives added...

2007 - what do you have in production

6 gallons Cranberry in the primary, what a mess, foaming like crazy. I transferred 1 1/2 gallons to another primary. In carboys: RJS - Orange Chocolate Port, CC - Amarone, WE - Lodi Old Vines Zin & Camanare Cab. Sauv., Suncal - Chardonnay and last but not least, Ancient Orange Mead. Dave

    Am I the only one....

I always get 28-30 bottles, after fermentation and stabalization, I rack into a 5 gallon carboy for aging, and bottle the rest(4-5 bottles). Those bottles are used for "taste testing", and topping up another kit, if needed, during stabalazation andclearing. I rack all liquid, even if that means...

    Fiz X mixer

I have a couple of those better bottles, I rest one hand on top of the carboy, and center the fizz-X with it. Dave

    Racking from carboy

I do the same as Waldo, easing the auto-siphon down a little at a time, except I do get down to the lees eventually as I tip the Carboy. I would rather suck up a little sediment than throw out good wine, the only time I do my darndest to not get sediment, is the last racking before bottling, not...

    Bad Backs?

Wade, I have been looking at those tables too, had back surgeryfour years ago. I think the $99 one would do me fine, it has a 600lb. capacity. I plan on using concrete blocks on the floor with wood on top so that the lowered height would be the same. Instead of putting the carboys on the...

WineXpert Specific Gravity at time of primary to secondary

I have found, or so it seems, that racking at 1.010 - 1.015 gets the fermentation going stronger again. I racked one at 1.025, as I would be out of town when the right time came, it foamed up into the air lock for about 5 days thereafter. The wife was not pleased with the mess, it was sitting on...

    I QUIT

Don't give up Waldo, I quit several times for 6 mos. to a year or more before I was Successfull. I've been smoke free for 26 years now. Every day you do not smoke adds to your life, even the 5-6 a day is better than 2 packs, right? Never Give Up Trying, you will be successfull eventually! Dave

Any good tips on cleaning a racking cane?

Try some Oxygenated cleaner, Chlorine Free. I get mine at the local Dollar Tree store. I mix a scoop to agallon of hot water for tough jobs. Let your hose soak in it for awhile, then flush with hot water. I've cleaned some disgusting looking gunk out of used wine bottles with it. Dave

    Is it really necessary???

A gallon jug and an airlock. After you try the one below, buy a wine equipment kit and get going. 1 gallon batch 3 1/2 lbs Clover or your choice honey or blend (will finish sweet) 1 Large orange (later cut in eights or smaller rind and all) 1 small handful of raisins (25 if you count...

    Help: air locks are delayed

The plastic bags should work, rubberbanded or string tied on. After it inflates, put a pinhole or two in it to let some pressure escape. Dave
