UPDATE - I believe the Enolmatic would work, no worries --- however, I can't rack into a Plastic PET carboy (all 14 I have are PET now) - 'massive implosion' is what is stated on the website. Makes sense. so nevermind. hahahhaa
Ok my helpful brothers in wine -- first round of 8 kits in the bottle.
when WHITE wine is clear as can be - is there an issue to bottle it early? I couldn't think of any, so I did bottle weeks ahead of time.
The Sauv Blanc with QA23 is amazing - so much nicer mouth feel, better flavor - total...
this is what I have: Apex Cultures FermoPro is a premium nutrient formulated to optimize fermentation. Apex Cultures FermoPro nutrient supplies yeast with essential elements needed to brew complex and superior beers. For homebrew use: 2-3g per 5 gallons.
here's the pic:
here's the SPEC...
NCO @Jim Welch and NCO @winemarker81 - thank you sincerely for this.
I have also reached out to a close friend - he has a PhD in Plant Pathology - and has a Yeast company - and a Distillery he just sold for a Price's Ransom. We shall see what he think of this as well.
I think from all what I...
From another forum....
"I emailed Wyeast with that question. They answered: "It is the same product with the same usage instructions for either wine or beer."
I did the same thing a few months ago. I ordered wine yeast nutrient instead of beer nutrient. The directions on the wine yeast called...
Jim, this is EXCELLENT news! Now, rookie Q here: you also mention, adjusting.
Are you meaning - the FermoPro says 15g-30g per 26 gallons (100L) - so since ber is like 6% and wine is like 12%, I double the dose?
Or am I reading too much into this - or over thinking it?
I other words, the two...
two Chimay Grande Reserve beers fermenting far left and back.
we are 'red' people - but with summer coming on - and all the ladies in our life loving whites, here we go:
3 - Gewurz - we LOVE that - and the new 'lesser kit' is just fine.
2 - Malbecs

and one more quick Q --- if I am adding some of this:
VINTNER'S BEST® BLACKBERRY FRUIT WINE BASE 128 OZ - (1 gallon makes 5.00 gallons juice at 18.6o B).
How much do I add to a 6 gallon WinExpert kit?
just real quick - if I add the D47 or the RC 212 or the QA 23 (assuming adding Yeast Nutrient as well) --- but am I to put the EC1118 in AS WELL AS the D47, etc?
Thank you ALL - now I have a ton of research ahead of me! :-D I think I will try a bunch of things here - different yeast, add flavoring and take amazing notes. Thank you again.
Jim, YES - love them, but could they be better, softer, 'more better'?
That being said, have you heard of adding Blackberry to kits? If so, what? Puree, etc,
Also, what yeast do you recommend for Merlot, Carmenere, Lodi CS, Amarone?
I have been away from the forum (what was I thinking), so I just put in my membership - thank you all for being here - really.
Our rack holds like 600 bottles - and we are getting super low (Emergency Siren sound here). I know how this goes, so we MUST do this right -- hit it hard, make a ton...
I have a couple 14 gal Tuff Tanks - can I do two kits in there (same wine of course). :-)
It doesn't seem like a problem, but thought some of you wine cats may know. :-D
Guys, this is ALL great insight and help.
I held off 24 hrs - and glad I did. I racked to secondary and left all the big stuff. I did get a little at the end, but not much.
And I DID suck all the Elderflowers up and into secondary. Wow, I am loving the way it smells. i am thinking St...
