    rooting Norton cuttings??

Thank you for recording the results of your experiment! I might try this, as I couldn't afford as many vines as I had wants.

    Elderberry and the Green Goo.

Several people around here say they dry the elderberry, have not complained about green goo at all. One who flavors her kombucha was entirely unfamiliar with the concept. Unfortunately for me, I made jam and wine from the small amount I had fresh this yeat, and was very familiar with goo. The...

    New Maryland Vineyard

The only thing that stops them is sturdy fencing around the vineyard, and actual grape netting over the clusters. The net alone may stop them, if you are not concerned that they are in the vineyard, and it mostly keeps out other pests. There was devastation to the new grafts I have done, not...

4 Liter Jug Caps - Carlo Rossi Jug

They fit the 38mm caps that are sold. I have bought screw caps with a hole for airlock, most were fine. Others I had trouble with, because the cheap airlocks were smaller diameter tube than expected. For closed storage, the 38mm polycone caps are great. Plain old plastic caps are fine too, but...

Other Do wine kits expire? - old unopened kit

Ditch everything but the bentonite, that's clay as was said. The yeast is probably fine, as E1118 will ferment a shoe, and yeast is recovered from archeological sites frequently. I would say look up 'skeeter pee' on this site, use the yeast, drink while you get a decent kit or grapes. And welcome!

Can these bottles be safely corked?

The small screw top bottles- the lids look the same as those I got- LaMarca and something else sparkling, then some sparkling water. Mostly the same as any tamper proof bottle. I bought new lids, because I like the blue bottles and the dark sparkling type. Brew places, including amazon sellers...

Kmeta amounts per liter or a percentage

That is exactly what I needed! I was looking for a much older post. Thanks, and thanks @cmason1957 I should also add-I fermented and then walked away on much of this. There is a mix of what was in-process as far as reds and whites, some trying for MLF and some with wood cubes, etc. I do have pH...

Kmeta amounts per liter or a percentage

Well, back to dealing with wines. Had injuries last winter, waiting in carboys since January/February and got a rotator cuff tear and frozen shoulder after that. Any numbers on what amount or percentage to use for adding kmeta? I switched most, unfortunately not all, carboys to 12 liters. So I...

    Help with small vineyard planning

I am going to have to try that program. I hadn't really wanted to learn, but everyone tells me it will do what I want.

    Help with small vineyard planning

great plan, what did you use to make it? From what i have heard, an Tom Plocher grapes are excellent. I would try the wine offered, and plant.

Apple varieties for wine and cider

I would look at growingfruit.org and read a bunch of threads about growing apples. You need to look at deer pressure, lower disease problems, water needs, etc. I am putting M111 in as base rootstock, because it resists wooly apple aphid and deals with water very well, makes a well anchored tree...

    Inexpensive wine storage

Search for 'InterMetro Anti-Tip Wall Bracket'. I use those on all my wire shelves, they fit InterMetro and others I've bought.

Want to avoid some chemcials what are the alternatives ?

They aren't really chemicals, any more than normal recipe ingredients are chemicals, like vanilla extract, or baking powder, or corn starch, or sugar, or salt. Most of those are refined before they are sold for cooking. Salt can be found as 'sea salt', but is generally mined and refined. White...

    PEAR WINE SEPARATING?

That's likely a pectin haze. Looks just like my pear, needs a lot of enzyme, but it won't hurt anything.

Strange taste in wines fermented from juice buckets...

I hadn't seen the last comment - 'manufactured' juice could surely do it. Excess sulfites or strange blending of concentrate, or who knows? If you taste something don't use the juice, if you don't it will be fine.

    Terroir Yeast

A quick google found "Wein-Plus, a leading European on-line wine guide, based in Germany." Just like many others, they are focused on getting clicks, advertising, and selling wine to get a commission. I have used the wein-plus site for info before, as I have used vinepair, wine-searcher...
