    WineXpert Sediments in red wine

I follow recipe, i.e. I add bentonite at start then kiselsol after fermentation and chitosan the day after. After this I bulk age 5-6 month extra. According to recipe you can bottle directly. My thinking is if wine is somewhat cleared itself by time it might be better to add k&c after lets say 6...

    WineXpert Sediments in red wine

I have done several Winexpert kits. The white wines are usually cleared fast and I can bottle directly and get no sediment after storing. My red wines are however usually a different story. I follow recipe and add both bentonite, kiselsol and chitosan, all in quite high quantities compared to...

WineXpert Winexpert Super Tuscan -- kinda thin

I think he's referring to a different kit, CS classic. I don't know what oak chips that kit has.

WineXpert Winexpert Super Tuscan -- kinda thin

I usually only fill the juice up to 22 liters and then add the grape skins bag. When I remove the bag I squeeze out most of the liquid and I will still have over 23 liters of wine. This will make the wine a bit less watery.

WineXpert Making Amarone and Super tuscan

I just got the 2 kits today, did another Amarone 2 months ago. When opening the packages I notice the super tuscan only contains 1 yeast, ec-1118, with expiration march 2023, the Amarone has 2 yeast. Should I only use this yeast or buy another fresh or maybe same 2 yeasts as Amarone, ec-1118 and...

WineXpert Confused about water amounts in Winexpert kit

Yeah, I'm not sure if the grapeskin bag are different for some batches. I've seen videos where the skins comes out from the bag in a somewhat smaller firm lump, mine were more juicy and big so may have been more liquid than usual. Anyway wine still is fine so I'll go with what I got and maybe...

WineXpert Confused about water amounts in Winexpert kit

S.G. was 1.082 after I added the grape bag, then I added 2/3 pounds of glucose, did not measure it again after I added the sugar. Now after 2 weeks of fermentation S.G. is 0.995. My question is not really about alcohol levels or S.G. but more how adding the grapeskins after I already measured...

WineXpert Confused about water amounts in Winexpert kit

I think Oechsle and S.G. is the same type of measurement just different ways of displaying the results e.g. Oechsle 82 = S.G. 1.082 and Oechle -5 = S.G. 0.995. I did follow the instructions, the grapebag prob weighed ~2kg(4 pounds) + 250ml water +300g(2/3 pound) sugar and the bag I discarded...

WineXpert Confused about water amounts in Winexpert kit

Hi, my first time trying a winexpert private reserve Amarone kit with grapeskins. According to instructions you should fill up the winebucket to 23l and then add the grapeskin bag + 250ml water. My oeschle were then only at 82 so I added 300g extra dextros. Now oeschle is around -5 so I removed...
