I started a Welch's Niagara last week and threw in the oak chips stainedfrom my Syrah. So far it tastes great and I'm wondering if the finished, clear wine will have the same pinkish color as it does now. I think that if so it will be a very interesting color.

That's pretty pale at this point, if anything it would be a 'Blush'.
With your Niagara wine do you find the oak chips add a different flavor...discribe??
I started a batch a few weeks ago, thought it had no flavor, but at the first racking it was pretty good..light and foxy.
I tweaked the recipe that I got off the Forum, I used some Welch's concentrate, some Old Orchard in the 64oz bottles instead of water and put 2 500ml bottles of WineExpert White Wine Grape Concentrate...a Blanc de Blanc...so to speak.......will for sure be a white wine from a medley of white grape juices.
Might ***Sparkle*** half the batch just for grins.

The oak chips probably used their power pretty much in the Syrah but thought I would add just because. I really can't discern an oak flavor but at this point it is as good as any white wine kit I've made.

Northern, yours sounds like a great blend. I'll be curious to seehow your turns out. Keep us posted on that!!

Looks almost exactly like a pink grapefruit I made last year. Strange thing was the finished wine was almost a florescent yellow

. I wasn't pleased with the taste at bottling, but I'll give it a year or so and try it. I have always been pleased with the Welch's wines I done, but I've always stayed with the reds.

Ramona,

I'll wager that you will keep just a little pinkish blush when it's clear. The same sort of thing happens when you run a white wine after a red in a barrel but on a grander scale. I just put my "case o' the vapors" peach in my homemade barrel after I had a grape wine in there. I hope it picks up a blush of red from the previous wine as that will make it a perfect peach color.

I Hope so. I love the color but the taste won't be effected by the cubes much I don't think.

How did you make a homemade barrel?
