Do they make a (good) cheap tester that ya can use to test acid in wine. I see that they have all kinds of testers that ya can use only once or twice butyou haft to keep buying paper or other stuff for the tester to keep reusing it, Im looking for atester thatI can use time after time by just dipping It in the wine and see the results , something like my hydrometer?

While you can get a pH meter for repeat testing, actual testing of Total Acidity (TA) requires reacting a base with the H+ ions that make up the TA. The best test setup for TA is a burette with a pH meter to read the endpoint. You will always have to get more titrating solution.

thank you very much mr. peter z, now all I haft to do is figure out what buretta meter is and where to find it on line,Im just getting into this hobby and everything is very greek to me, I can assume that it would be located with theTA testers?

First welcome to the forums!

Second, why do you want to test your acidity? Unless your making wine from fresh grapes, you really don't need much in the way of equipment and testing. Its all been balanced (and tested) at the factory. Other than a hydrometer and a thermometer there really isn't much else you really need (as far as test equipment) for this hobby!

thank you for the advice, actually im working on my first batch. I went to walmart and bought 5-94 0z. bottles of 100% grape juice and added the correct amount sugar and yeast and let it start working. I diden't know if there was a difference from fresh grapes and plane juice. I am going to start my first batch from george tomorrow.
again thanks of the info!
