Hello, folks

Been lurking for a month or so. I'm very impressed with the WMT family. I am currently racking to secondary, a 6 gal batch of DB, had to try it. I am a newbie to wine making with a handful of semi-successful kits under my belt. Looking forward to learning from you guys.

Currently .990 at 70F after 4 days in primary. Looking and smelling good. Thanks, Dave.

Cheers from San Antonio

What a great bunch of Texans we have, here!

Glad you are enjoying the DB recipe, Shane. San Antonio! Beautiful city! Loved the River Walk and the downtown area. Great food! Good times!

Welcome Shane. I'm just a couple of hours down the road from you in Aransas Pass. I go to San Antonio at least once a month. Was there on Thursday and had to make my usual stops at Costco and Home Brew Party.
Maybe you and Knockabout can tell me if there are any wine clubs there. I know we don't have any in Corpus.

Welcome!

I'm about 5 hours away from you.
SA is my 2nd favorite Texas town to visit.

This is a great bunch of people here and I think you will learn a lot. Hopefully we will learn from you as well.

Thanks for the warm welcome. After reading many posts here, I have found how exciting it can be making fruit wines from scratch. Already started a second batch of DB but using Blueberries and cranberry. Doubled the fruit. Its nice and dark. Going for the dry on this one.

Texas Pride rocks. Hang there all the time. Lots of small wineries in the fredericksburg area. Messina Hoff is one of my favorite Texas wines.

Thanks again for all the great information, guys

Shane

James,

I hang in Galveston for one week once a year in November for the Lonestar rally. A very good friend of mine owns a vacation home there and he kindfully lets us use it. Maybe we should hook up and share a glass or two. I'm thinking you could teach me a few tricks :fsh

Hi all, wanted to introduce myself as well. I am a former San Antonio resident of ten years, DEFINITELY another Texas wine lover, and am now in Maryland. The steamed blue crabs and Resurrection are fantastic here, but I miss puffy tacos and Lone Star.

I have been making wine for a year now, my husband bought the starter set for my birthday, and I am sure he had no idea what he was getting into! I have completed 13 batches of wine, and have two more in carboys, plus four kits waiting, plus three limited editions on the way....

It has been fun learning the process!

Welcome Heatherd, In my book you're a veteran wine maker. 13 batches is quite a bit of wine. I WISH I had four waiting in the wings. I have 2 and ideas for a bizzlion more. This is SO addicting.
I have to ask, why did you defect and end up in Maryland? I'm super jealous of the crab anytime you want it. But not sure I balance that desire with the cold for so many months.
