I want to try and make a quick wine that can be drank in a few weeks. Has anyone used this?
Check the Skeeter Pee and Dragonblood threads. They are quick and drinkable at bottling, although they do get smoother with age.I want to try and make a quick wine that can be drank in a few weeks. Has anyone used this?
Technically, it will be wine just not an aged dry wine. I prefer a nice wine, was just looking to make a quick easy cheap drinker. You can home ferment an alcoholic beverage in a few weeks. But it will not be wine.
Wine takes more time to make.
I plan to make skeeter pee, I just bought the lemon juice and sugar today. Before I know it I'm going to have my kitchen full of ferments. I just started this adventure 3 weeks ago and have 3 kit wines and a batch of mead.Check the Skeeter Pee and Dragonblood threads. I gotcha. Supposedly wines made with store bought juice like this taste better young than aged. I am speaking solely of other people. I have no personal experience with that.Legally, in the EU if it is not made from gapes, it is not "wine".
Not saying a beverage that is made from fruit can not be made fast (even with a rather unfortunate name), and may be a good drink in a short time. As some bathtub gin may have been called "good" during prohibition.... haha...
But, seriously, any fermented beverage should still age for awhile to be a really good beverage. Good "wine" (in quotes) takes time to make. No matter what legal, popular or traditional definition you use. IMHO. Hope this helps.

I think I'm going to make 5 gallons of skeeter pee. Figure it'll be a nice pool side drink.
Four batches in the first 3 weeks? Sounds like an obsession. Don't forget to document every thing you do. Memories are not always reliable. Trust me. Wines made from ingredients such as drinking juice have less body, are drinkable sooner, and have a shorter lifespan. In general, this is not a problem as your purpose is quicker consumption.I gotcha. Supposedly wines made with store bought juice like this taste better young than aged.
