Apple wine discovery

I've been making apple wine with straight golden del apples, it's very good. Last year make apple with red del apples, and also Arkansas black apples.

All 3 are wonderful tasting wines, each distinct in its own way.

Vivisted my brother last week and decided to "blend" all 3 in equal parts. I was amazed at the difference. Now I still have to make my wife's golden del wine but now I have to make this blend (she hates it).

Moral of the story: never be afraid to try something new.

The recent issue of Winemaker Mag says that Apple wine made from several varieties is much better than using just one, guess you found this out for yourself.

I don't get winemaker mag but yes I have come to realize that fact

This is why they always do a wide variety at cider mills. I buy fresh unpasteurized apple cider to make my apple wine. They already got the blend figured out and apples pressed. It doesn't get much better than that.

I have 5 gallons fermenting with 3 different apples, one of which was crab apple. Looking forward to it!

That being said, the Apple juice I get from homewinery.com is no where as good as any of mine.
