All,

The girls in the family want me to make a wine (red or white works) but I don't want to have to age it for 3-4 months or even longer which most kits call for. Is there a specific grape or even wine kit that is ready to go right after secondary fermentation or in other words does not need to be aged? Thanks for taking the time to look at this. I Usually brew beer so my knowledge of wine making is suspect at best lol.

Thanks again

Hey MB,

Welcome to WMT!

I've been a homebrewer since 1990 and just started wine making last November. I too was looking for a quick wine and not knowing anything thought I could turn it around by Christmas! As beer brewers we are spoiled time wise. Best attempt might be a sweet white wine, the residual sugars can hide a lot of issues from not aging it properly.

The best course of action would be to make a batch of wine and expect to start drinking around this time next year (for a red) or possible next summer for a white wine.

You could try one of the Island mist kits, they're low abv, ferment fast, and don't take a lot of aging, also you could try Skeeter Pee, or Dragon Blood, those are really fast drinkers also. Dale.

Haha yep it does seen too good to be true. I have discovered that you can somewhat do it with apple juice. If you use champagne yeast with apple juice add about half a cup of dextrose per gallon along with pectin and yeast nutrient it will taste similar to wine obviously with an apple flavor. You can even carbonate it to turn it into champagne. It only takes about three weeks not counting carbonation.

I don't thing you are going to get a decent Apple that fast. Apple is one of the fruits that really do not come into their flavor for at least two years.

Knifemaker gave the best advice.
