Everyone enjoyed the 3 RJS kit wines I served. California Muscat, Pintot Grigio (back sweetened with 2 cups sugar) and the Super Tuscan.

Once again it seemed the gals preferred the whites and with one exception the guys preferred the red (Super Tuscan).

How did your wines fare?

A friend and her family really enjoyed my 18 month old Super Tuscan. My in laws enjoyed a bottle of sweet peach as gifts.

I served two Pinot Noirs during my Christmas party. One store bought, and one someone else made from frozen grapes. After those were drunk, I pulled out a WE Amarone I made 8-2013 and served that up. Still not being happy really with any of my kit wines, it was nice to hear everyone comment on how "this is a full bodied multi layered wine!" I didn't tell them til after the comments that I made it. I guess I am just too critical of my wines. My Zin port I offered up to two select extended family members was still too young, fruit forward and sweet. 10 more years :(

I brought my collection, and laid them out from sweet to dry. IM Exotic Fruits Zinfandel was the first choice. 3# sugar and 1/2 fpack in primary. It was a hit.

A young drinker wanted a red, so I opened the WE Australian Petit Verdot. It was only about a year old, but I bought it because they said it was an early drinker. It was also a hit.

Dandelion at 12.8% was a clear favorite. Tastes like a sunny field. As a matter of fact we call it "Liquid Sunshine".

I brought my "Plum Tart" to our Christmas with friends and it was a big hit, even with one of the guys who has NEVER liked any of my wines. It hasn't been bottled long, but I did start it Sept 2013. I only got 12 bottles and I know I am going to have a hard time holding back one of the bottles for next year's Christmas!

I served two meads, a traditional dry made from Buckwheat ...

Interestingly, I stopped at a winery/moonshine still on my way to visit my parents and (among a half case of their wine) I picked up a bottle of buckwheat moonshine. It is very good

busted through about 3 cases over the holidays. Hosted a lot of dinners, and had 5 house guests over last week. I served a mixture of my 2012 cabernet, some 2011 barrel reserve which is aging very well, and my 2013 Riesling.

Typical for this time of year, my clean/empty bottle supply sure is growing while my supply of bottled wine is severely depleted.
