OMG, this is hilarious.

Last fall Mike and a friend of his cut down a tree for someone in the area. Mike filled our large trailer and parked it in the back. Wood is still on it. For the last two weeks I have been watching this robin that has been hanging out by the one tire and it would peck at the tire. I haven't gone out because to check it out because it has been raining.

Well, I'm home today so I am watching this bird out there and the dogs are climbing all over the trailer trying to get at the chipmonks and this bird stays there, it's likenthis robin is hanging out with the dogs. So out I go to check out what is in that tire that has this bird so attached to it. LOL, the hubcap is smooth and shining, the bird is looking at itself!!!!! I think it is in love with itself. :)

Fun story.

Once there was a bird that would hang onto the side of my car and constantly peck at its image in the side mirror. The bird would stay there as long as the car was still. Every time I came home in the car, within just minutes the bird was back. All his/her droppings down the side of the car was not a pretty sight.

I have a male cardinal that has been flying into the windows on the back of my house for about three weeks. I'm not sure if he's trying to protect his territory, mate with himself. or just has suicidal tendencies. He has done this for the past three years. :d

Three years ago I had two Bluebirds doing the same thing with the mirror on my truck. They did this for about a month. What a mess they made but it was such a pleasure to watch them I left them go.

About 7 or 8 years ago the robins on our acreage kept attacking the basement windows. My son who was about 13 at the time was freaking out at them because they would come in the morning and start running at the windows for an hour. This lasted about a month I think. I've never seen them do it since. Must have seen their reflection also but why only the one time has me baffled. Stupid Robins.

Gman

You realize that if the birds really did see their reflection when they flew into the windows at least you would think they would try to avoid flying into themselves.

I've got a female peacock that just came wandering out of the woods and took up residence last year. She always goes over to the truck and struts back and forth looking at her reflection. She laid 3 eggs last summer and spent the entire summer sitting on them and guarding them. I guess I must be the lucky fellow cause she coo's to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Peacock??? How cool!! The only place we see those is at the zoo.

I had a peacock follow me around the sweet corn field one summer. It just about scared the crap out of me when I was bent ovre picking corn at 5 am and heard something walking up behind me. Though maybe it was a bear because they hang out there too, but no, it was a peacock!

My parents have some peacocks that frequent their yard, it would be col to get a few and have the around but I already have way too many animals around here already.

We have a firehouse that is always swarming with turkeys and when they go into their mating season they get all crazy. It is common to see them pecking at themselves in the chrome bumpers of guys' cars. I also have been chased by a crazy turkey leaving the firehouse one morning. Not to sound like a wimp but those things are scary when they're all puffed out and looking for blood!

LOL, turkeys can be dangerous, I know they can cause a lot of damage to vehicles that are driving down the road.

We have a neighbor that lives over the hill from us who raises peacocks. they have never been in our yard but in the fields around us and we hear them in the eveing. They have a haunting call to them.

Yeah our neighbor used to raise peacocks. They're beautiful but the call is very odd

yes Joea132, their call is kind of odd, actually I always thought it was kind of eerie.

Since we're talking about birds thought I would share this. I left the house this morning and noticed something on this roof. At first I thought they were Eagles but they were Turkey Vultures drying their wings in the sun. The one spread eagle was like that for about ten minutes then I finally left.

Peacocks are nuisance birds in some areas. I saw a TV show on what happened with them in Florida. They multiply rapidly and take over the neighborhood. Of course they poop all over and are VERY noisy in large groups. The show was how they tried to catch and remove them. They would swoop off the roofs and dive bomb people too.
The neighborhood was sorry they were ever introduced in that area.
