Hello all,

I was wondering when a good time is to ship wine before a competition? I mean, how long should the bottle "rest" before tasting so the dreaded bottle shock isn't noticeable anymore?

Thanks!

M.

I have read posts by Tim V. that 4 weeks is best for wines to recover from shipping shock...then again it all depends what the bottles were subject to.

Hmmm.

Thanks. I have to go thru my stuff pronto, then.

Thanks again.

Learning something new here..I was aware of bottle shock from bottling but was not aware that it was an ongoing potential problem when wines were shipped. What is it that happens to the wine that causes the shock?
