My bottled wine (red) shows stain coated on the inside of the bottle after 6 months. Anyone have the same happening? My wine is not filtered.

Is this from a kit or what? Usually its sediment (fine) that didn't have time to fall out before you bottled. Just another reason to no be too quick to bottle.

Add some tannin to your wine. Tannin stabilizes the color and prevents plating in the bottle.

It was from fresh grapes and had been sitting in a barrel for one year before bottled. Do you filter before bottling?

I find that the older a wine gets, the more likely this will happen. I do not recall ever seeing this after only 6 months, though.

What type of closure are you using?

BTW, a drop of two of automatic dishwasher detergent (the gel type) in a little hot water will melt away that staining.

I filter my reds from fresh grapes with a 5u filter about a month before bottling time. I also don't bottle until 2 years which includes 6 months in a 23L Vadai. I also add extra tannin. My bottles never have an ounce of sediment or tannin line even after 4 years. I use Opti-Red as well as Tannin FT Rouge at crush.
