I watched a video today where the guy said he went to Costco and paid ‘two ninety-nine’ for a brisket. Granted, it was a huge piece of meat, but what would you pay over there for a brisket? I’m currently smoking one that cost $50, will get two full meals out of it for the family, so it’s a decent but not big size.

Costco used to sell "Prime" whole packer briskets for $2.99/lb before Covid hit. Now they are usually $3.99 to $4.99/lb depending on where you are shopping at. I can find whole "Choice" packer briskest at my local Kroger for $2.99/lb when they are on sale. Normally their choice is ~$3.99/lb.

Ok so it was by the pound. I’ll take a look at what they cost here by the kilo and do the convert. I’d say we pay a fair bit more for our meat. It costs money just to breathe over here it seems at times.

Normally in the USA, if you see a price for meat, it's by the lb. When a package is not listed by the lb, it's probably to disguise just how expensive it really is.

Since it's Costco, it's a large piece of meat -- typically 12 to 18 lbs.

Since a Kilo is ~2.2lb it will interesting to do the math. If you (or anyone in the UK) could supply a current price for brisket. Especially from a Costco in the UK, we could compare easily.

Wow, that's quite a difference from what I find Costco Prime Brisket in Missouri, I decided not to buy another one, when the price was $4.19/pound.

But I did pick up pork butts at $8 off, made the cost per pound down to $2.12 for me.

Of course that is $8 CAD. At current exchange rates, that would be $5.75/lb.

Oh man, pork butts, we can’t even buy them here. For some reason they always pull the bloody bone out and it doesn’t cook the same. We can’t get ribs with the belly still on either as pork belly is such a good seller my local butcher told me it’s almost always taken off and sold separately.

So I shop my local Grocery on Thursday early morn. Later that day, they get the cyrovac meat in for the weekend. If and a BIG IF, there is any Brisket near the best buy date, they discount it e5'38 percent off. Good is usually 3.49. Choice is 3.99 - 4.50. Prime is 4.99-5.99. Costco is usually 4.99 for prime.
