I'm a noob on my first batch if wine. I made a Welches Concord from 100% juice. I had a friend help me start the batch and then get it into the carboy where it has been sitting. After several days the bubbles stopped and started to clear. Tonight I looked and saw small bubbles streaming up the side of carboy. Its that normal? If not how do I fix it? Thanks.

Any change in temperature (especially the wine getting warmer)? CO2 escapes more readily from a warm liquid.

Steve

It actually did get warmer. My house hit 82 degrees yesterday before the ac was turned on. I was worried there might be bacteria or something in it. My friend say I'm a micro manager guess I need to relax and enjoy. Thanks for the help.

What is your specific gravity? The wine may still be fermenting dry. When did you start the fermentation and how long has it been in carboy?

SG is 0.997. Its been in the carboy for 10 days. I racked into cayboy at 1.020. Thanks

Think you are either degassing or still fermenting although at that S.G. if still fermenting it would probably be slower. Having started clearing, it is pretty likely it is just degassing. Something that has to be done anyway and it is doing it on its own. Doesn't get any better than that. Arne.

If your SG is .997 - you might have some fermentation going on - but it won't be much and won't last long - because at that SG I would say it is done.

I would bet you are seeing CO2 releasing through the airlock...
