The heavy metal band Motley Crue is done rocking together.

The band, who has been together for 33 years, announced on Tuesday that they are retiring, but they will do a massive farewell tour first.

Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee and Mick Mars made the announcement at a heavily promoted press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

"We just want to go out on top. Leave a legacy behind," Neil said, according to band's verified Twitter account, which posted constant updates from the event. "We won't be doing any more concerts after this. This is the final tour."

Um, dude, if you wanted to go out on top, you shoulda quit in the late 80s or early 90s…just saying…. :D

I've always been a fan of theirs, but have to admit the last time I saw them (6 or 7 years ago) it was kinda sad. Granted, people can be a little up tight here in DC, but it was almost pathetic seeing them try (unsuccessfully) to get women in the crowd to lift up their shirts. And Mick could barely move. I'll probably try to see them on this tour just for old time's sake though.

Rock on, Crue.

Elmer, are you kidding!
We've recently seen The Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd with Bad Company, I've seen the Stones, Pink Floyd, just to name a few, and if we can make one of Motley Crue tour dates, we will!
I'm disappointed that I couldn't get tickets for Black Sabbath when there got back together.

Dont get me wrong, I like live music. And I like to see musicians play music. However I outgrew the 80's hair metal scene in the mid 80's and never looked back.

I also dont like to see bands who either
A) only have a few or 1 original members performing under the orginal band name.

B) have not created any new material in years.

That being said there are still a bunch of bands I will head to SPAC to see this summer! Just not Crue!

Um, new album coming out 2014. Better get those tix now - they are selling fast! :)

:) If he CAN! Some guys of the era who were there when Crue was new may be kinda thin up top now. :)

NO MULLETT!!!!!

Actually I am getting my 1st hair cut since July.
I let it grown down to my shoulders.
One of the managers in my office just asked me yesterday if I was a hippy. :r

People on another forum where I posted this news are saying tix at some venues are selling at $150 each. Dang, pending retirement is being good to these ol boys, who were formerly reduced to playing county fairs for some gigs.

I sen them twice many years ago. 1 was ok and 1 was so bad that I knew every song but didnt recognize 2/3rds of the songs until the songs were 1/2 way through. The sound sysytem was horrible and they were too loud on top of it. Now Iron Maiden I seen a few years ago and that was the 3rd time Ive seen them and every time they seem to get better!
