Hello...

Just thought I would say a "hi" as a new guy about to go buy his first kit this afternoon!!!!

There are surprisingly lots to choose from in Saskatoon so it'll be a blast methinks!!

Cheers!!!

Dave

Welome and glad to have you here, as Dan said above feel free to ask away as thats why we are here.

Welcome to the forum. Remember to buy the best kit you can afford. The end result usually parallels the price paid for the kit. i.e. You get what you pay for. Good luck.

Thanks guys!!!

Taking in all of your advice!!!

Would like to buy 2 kits...one for the summer if possible and one better one to let sit...then a third at Christmas LOL!!! And so it begins :)

Posted this at the winexpect section seeing I thought that would be the better "value" kit but now not so sure as it was pointed out to me that the Cru International comes wih grape skins that would help with the body and possibly drinking come July!!!

Hope to have insight before I go out this afternoon to pick up my first!!!

Cheers!!!

Hi Dave,
Welcome from Moose Jaw. I was born and raised in Saskatoon as well. When deciding on your first kit, don't rule out a value priced kit, as they are usually drinkable earlier. Going all the way up the food chain to a grape skin kit will provide wonderful results down the road, but will not show its true potential for a year or longer. The folks at Harvest Brewing on Second Ave (a Winexpert source) can point you in the right direction.

Hey!!!

Love Moose Jaw...lived there for a couple of years...was great!!!

And yes...Harvest...he seems to know what he's talking about..that'll be my first stop!!!

Any recommendations???

Thanks...much appreciated!!!

I guess I'll see what I'll bring home this afternoon :)

Thats why I sugeested a International kit as its a smaller kit but has the body boost to make it decent. Oh by the way, Christmas for your 3rd!!! We'll see about that as this is an addictive hobby!!! You'll be getting your 3rd earlier then that Im thinking....

Ya LOL!!! I've already am planning my 3rd in the next little bit...I have 4 carboys now!!!

Anyhoo...went down to the local establishment...the gent was super helpful!!

Came home with a Winexpert kit...World Vineyard Italian Sangiovese!!!

It was a toss-up between that, the Californian Pinot Noir and the Mezzo Luna Red...either or, it should be good to go in July!!!

I the mean time, I might start that Pinot kit or the Vieux Chateau du Roi when I move over to a carboy...and then I have the 3rd and 4th picked out...a Sonoma Pinot or the Chilean Carmenère that wineh mentioned :)

Now that I started...it won`t end ROFL!!!

Thanks everyone!!!

I really havent seen many good reviews of Pinot Noir except with the Mosti Mondaile juice bucket or the more expensive RJS Em Primeur Dashwood New Zealand Pinot Noir. Both of those will take awhile to come around.

Interesting!!!

Well...I'm gonna do another kit towards the end of May...it'll be of the next level up...15L kit...and then continue on with the premium kits...you did warn me :)

The gent was super helpful so I will continue going to him...I liked the service and the advice...he took the time for me...not to mention the 25 carboys he has going gives me something to fall back on...he's tried them all!!!!

Dave
