While I was racking my Pinot noir (needs oak), and bottling my welches, my daughter came down to help.
Since holing the racking cane is boring she decided to use my wine bottle surplus to make a wine bottle maze.
How before making the make she found a permanent marker and wrote her name on every bottle and carboy and jug.
She was proud of herself.

Elmer, my granddaughter will be 11 next month and she has been doing the bottling for the past 2 years. She also places the corks into the corker. So far, she doesn't get bored.

My kids are still in the 'dump & stir' stage :) Can't wait till they're older and can help more.

Yep, my 7 y/o has been helping me for about the past year and a half in the cellar. She graduated up to filling and corking last fall. Well she puts the corks in the corker and I help her pull the lever. She also likes to help put the labels on the bottles. Can't wait to get more fresh fruit this summer. She likes working the press as well.

Elmer,

How cute is that?? How could one get mad?

I am not made ate all.
They are only bottles. I have no concern what they look like on the outside.

She has me wrapped on every finger.
My son has little to no desire to help me. As soon as I bolt down to the wine cellar, she is not far behind, either to help or just play while I work. She is there to keep me company and I enjoy it while it lasts!

I don't like when my kids help me because by helping me is by drinking my wine. :) They are 27-31.

Elmer,
Very cute girl.

Interesting you said that. I have 13 nieces and nephews. It is interesting how more enthusiastically an invite to rack the wine is over, say, just coming for dinner. All but a handful are of drinking age.

Not that I am complaining. I love seeing them.
