Today I found thatI had nothing that would fit through the neck of a gallon bottle to degas a blueberryI'm working on. After racking I stuck the bent end of my racking cane and rolled it between my palms back and forth. I was surprised at how much C02 was in there.I worked it for a minute, let it rest and did it again a few more times. Ordinarily, I am an equipment junkie in most of my hobbies and would have run down to buy a gadget for this, butam happy with finding another use fora rather simple piece of gear. I would suggest removing the tip before doing this, lest you knock it off while working. I have a drill mounted degasser for my large carboy.

I hope this helps someone. Happy winemaking

Something else that I have found for the one gallon jugs is to fill them part way, put a cap on them, and shake the snot (and the CO2) out of them. Very simple!
