I think it is cool, but also know that it is very expensive ($300?).
If you know the starting SG, and ferment dry, then wouldn't you already have a good idea on the APV? Why would this expense be worth while? Is there more to this that I am missing?

I can get the Alla one in for $949.99
For the home wine maker I don't see much of a use unless you have lots of money to spend ( see me for that). For a winery where you have to be accurate in labeling the ABV, it should be necessary.
