I have used it for beer not wine yet. Funny I was just gonna check here to see if people were using it for wine. There are a few issues with it but they can be overcome easily. The big thing is the mold for the lid is off so it doesn't seal when you screw the lid on. You have to shave the top of the fermenter flat with either a utility knife or people are using sand paper too. Also clean up the threads with sandpaper to make the lid screw on easier. Once you do this it seals fine. The other issue at least for beer is the opening at the bottom is still a little small. Beer trub sometimes has a hard time settling into the ball without helping it in there with something. Again not sure about wine so lees may settle just fine. Clean up is super easy and I keg my beer so I fill right from the fermenter. I love not having to rack! I've got a WE kit I've been meaning to make so I think I'm gonna give it a go with this thing. I'd love to be able to bottle right from the fermenter. My only concern with wine is there will be a lot of headspace in there so oxidation is a concern. I have a Mityvac so I think I will just use that once fermentation is complete while it ages for a month before I bottle from the bottom.

Thanks for the update. I would be concerned about bottling wine from it and getting the fine lees into the bottles. You would have to filter into another vessel first then back to the fermenter in order to do that.
