I have the All in One Wine pump and the pentak housing and do vacuum filtering through the pentak housing with 1 and 5 micron filters. I've had 2 filtering sessions and I do multiple batches at a time.

I run a gallon of water through the filter before filtering the wine. I've noticed some particle floating In that first carboy after filtering. It appears to be fibers from the filter. after a day they have fallen to the bottom and I am careful during bottling to not pick these up.

Do others have this problem. do you rinse out the filters differently?

Thanks, Pat

Pat, I use Pentek filters and have not seen the problem. I usually run a gallon of k-meta sanitizing solution (3 T k-meta to 1 gallon of water) through the filter and then flush with 2 to 3 gallons of clear water. These are the filters I use.

I had the same issue with my minijet filter.

I solved this by running 3 gallons of warm acilidated water through the filter.

I add 1 Tablespoon of citric acid to 1 gallon of warm water.

Never had the issue again...

I use the same filters that Dan uses. When I used my minijet I used to get filter fibers and I could always detect a "filter taste" in my wines even after running acidulated water through it. I don't detect any of that with these pentek filters.
