So in my haste/excitement to get my Riesling bottled, I realized today (the day after) that I forgot to add the Potassium Sorbate to the wine before bottling. Any suggestions?

Should I empty the bottles back into the bottling bucket, add the sorbate, then rebottle? Or should I just leave it alone and hope for the best?

Did you sweeten the wine? Either by adding a pouch that came with the kit, or sugar or confitioner or ...

If not, then you should be a-ok. If you did, I think you should sorbate & re-bottle.

No sweetener involved. Only pouches added were the K-meta, and the Siligel/Liquigel. The wine itself on tasting is rather dry, not very sweet at all. The only sweet bit that was added was the commerical Riesling I used to top off - but that was only slightly sweet flavored.

Sounds OK then. Many kit makers leave the sorbate out. I was working on two kits on Friday, and consciously omitted the sorbate.

I agree, as long as your not sweetening a wine its ok to leave it out but sorbate does have anti microbial properties so leaving it out on purpose isnt a super great idea.

and in all likelihood, if you make this a young drinker then you wont have any issues
