I know this has been discussed before, I tried to read the prior threads but I don't want to resurrect an old thread. Can I make an apple Fpac by just thawing out a can of frozen concentrate? Would I need to simmer it some? I don't see any reason to add water and then simmer the water off, so I am asking can I just thaw the can out and simmer it? Would it even need to be simmered?

Lots of questions, just trying to get some apple flavor back in.

I have never used an F pack so no help there. However I have used apple juice concentrate. Mostly as a sweetner. I made a five galleon batch of apple wine. I backsweetened it with one or two cans of apple concentrate. The apple flavore really came out. It tasted like fresh apple juice, with a 17% abv kick. You can do the old taste test with a glass of wine first to see if it works for you.

You can put the concentrate in straight out of the can. Make sure the wine is stabalized first or it is liable to referment. Also if your wine is already clear, it mite make it cloudy. You can wind up back waiting for it to clear again. Or drink it the way it is. Arne.

Sounds like you do use an F-Pak

I tried the frozen concentrate this weekend on an apple batch and on a pineapple batch. The apple is still clear afterwards but the pineapple clouded up. Oh well, now I wait, glad I am not in a hurry.

I took a gallon of store brand apple juice and simmered it down to a couple cups. Added it to 3 gallon batch of apple wine. Turned out great.

Now I use extract.
