Garbage in, garbage out. I have made about 10 gallons of swill from the second squeezing of some Cab grapes, underwhelming would be kind, not willing to stop throwing good money after bad and not needing 10 gallons of cooking wine, would a flavor pack do any good? Any and all suggestions would be welcome. bk

Oaking is a great suggestion on that wine. How old is it - time might also help you out.

My two buckets of frozen grapes should be finishing up next week, could I use this swill, even though it's been sulfated and gone through MLF for the juice in a second squeezing, or am I just trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear? bk

I am not sure that anybody will agree with me, but my steadfast rule is to NEVER, under any cercomstances, try to blend good wine into a batch of bad.

Blending with crappy wine NEVER works. This will ALWAYS result in you simply having twice the amount of bad wine, and no longer having any quantity of good wine.

Tell me more of this "second squeezing"? Was this made with spent grape skins, acid, sugar, and water?

I agree with John. Use this wine for topping up in the future and I dont mean a gallon but like a bottle. I did this same think last year, one was a blend of Cab and Merlot and one was a blend of Sang and Zin. the second run sang zin came out as a pretty decent table wine and the Cab Merlot is tasteless and thin. Ill run this through a heated apparatus if you know what I mean.

#1 your first loss is your least loss.
#2 never chase bad money with good money.
#3 a bad deal don't get better.
#4 If you have to (insert a verb) a (insert a noun) get it over with and get down the road.

The only caveat to that I'd like to add - in reference to # 4:

Once you've (insert verb) one ( insert noun) your a (nounverb - er) the rest of your life.


Get the right noun and verb and it becomes as clear as skeeter pee.
