My boyfriend began brewing his own beer this past Thanksgiving and we thought it would be fun to give wine a try! We are starting off with a kit: Vino del Vida, Pinot Noir.

Any suggestions or tips are greatly appreciated! Looking forward to sharing a new hobby!

astok007 welcome aboard. You certainly found the right place to come and ask questions. Keep notes such as all of you sg readings and dates when you do this or any kit. Follow the instructions and you'll be fine. Feel free to ask any questions you have along the way and keep us posted. It won't be long before your new hobby takes over space in your boyfriends area for beer.

The only suggestion I have is not to judge this wine and say that homemade wine isnt good or that you cant do it. That is about the cheapest kit on the market and although some people like it I think it makes a very thin wine compared to the bigger kits. I know you were afraid to spend too much money on your first wine but whne thats done and you think its ok try stepping up to a 15-18 liter kit and I think youll truly find them MUCH better. They bigger kits need more time aging though so if you like whites then I suggest making a white first to drink while the big red is aging.

Start by following the instructions and ask questions along the way. If you don't already have a hydrometer, make sure you get one.
